Alcohol-based hand sanitizer remains a frontline defender against the dreaded coronavirus disease. Since the pandemic reached American shores in March 2020, sanitizers, disinfectants, and personal protective equipment have become commercial mainstays. Most businesses rely on foot traffic for survival. COVID-19 exposure can diminish operating hours. To slow the virus’s spread and to avoid another costly shutdown, many businesses invest in bulk sanitizer storage to keep profits and customers healthy. Unfortunately, with the SARS variant threatening to reach endemic, we don’t see this reliance changing in the near future. As businesses stock up on hand sanitizers, larger corporations will need fire-rated protection for larger quantities. U.S. Hazmat Rentals offers a line of OSHA and NFPA approved chemical storage lockers to safeguard drum pallet stockpiles of hand sanitizer and other flammable disinfectants.
Compliant OSHA Category 1 Flammable Liquid Storage
Like with any other hazardous materials, federal regulators have adopted a slew of stringent regulations regarding the storage of sanitizer. Most hand sanitizers contain at least 60 percent of ethyl alcohol. Although unlikely, these sanitizers can evaporate at room temperatures into a ignitable vapor, causing a fire. OHSA regulation 29 CFR 1910.126(d) provides guidance for the storage of flammable liquids in drums and containers that do not exceed a 60-gallon capacity. Our fire-rated chemical storage lockers provide optimal protection that meet a variety of setbacks established by local authorities having jurisdiction. Depending on your required level of protection, U.S. Hazmat Rentals two-hour and four-hour fire chemical storage lockers can protect vulnerable assets until firefighters and first responders can arrive on scene. In the event of a fire, our optional fire suppression system can quickly douse the flames, preventing the fire from spreading to adjacent structures.
Fire-rated Wall Construction that Meet NFPA 30 Standards
Comprised of superior mineral wool insulation, and enveloped by thick layers of fire-rated drywall, our chemical storage locker walls offer superior protection for chemical stockpiles of various classifications. Each hazmat building features four-hour fire-rated construction, a dry chemical fire suppression system, explosion-proof lighting, climate control heat and air conditioning, mechanical fan-forced air ventilation, and a raised steel grated EPA-compliant secondary spill containment sump floor.
